Because there were some build issues with the previous Wt 4.0.1 release, we decided to quickly follow up with 4.0.2, which adds no extra features, but fixes these build problems.

Binary builds for Windows are available on the GitHub releases page.

This is a great framework. Thank you for providing the community with an open source version. It is not as trivial to start from scratch as for other frameworks but this deserves the effort. C++ is an outstanding language and Wt makes it even more appealing. I think also that more practical examples should be available although there are examples in the source code.

Do you have any plans to do this?

I'll be doing a short introduction to Wt 4 talk at FOSDEM (I asked for an hour, but sadly only got a half hour). That will normally be livestreamed and recorded. I hope that that will be a good intro for people looking to get started with Wt.
I am aware that we do lack a bit of "getting started" type stuff. I'm not sure how we should best tackle that.

I ported the code from version 3.3.6 to 4.0.2
With 3.3.6 it worked fine, now the program crashes when a widget will be removed from a stackwidget (and is deleted). The problem has to do with the timer. If I comment out the timer (from the class of the widget which will be removed) everything works as expected.
Did something changed regarding the timer? What can I do?

I had noticed a regression related to WTimer, but that has been fixed already. Could you post some more information on our Redmine? https://redmine.webtoolkit.eu/projects/wt
I'm looking for more information about how you are using the WTimer: how it's constructed, which object owns it, etc. A stack trace could also be useful.
